Who is BADgertRAP?
A zanier, funkier, camper, young British version of Johnny Cash and the rest of the time a cross between an angry, fucked up Syd Barret doing a Milli Vanilli tribute act and Leonard Cohen chewing a wasp.
Except that doesn’t even begin to describe the story of BADGERTRAP the badger trapped inside a man trapped inside a badger. A unique master of twisted concepts: human stuffed animals, snuffing grannies, incestuous confusion, kidney donation love … ‘We can get married wherever we like / We just can’t have sex in Nebraska / Because you’re 13 and I’m 21 / And also you’re my sister, so all our children will be blue’ … Killer tunes which echo Jonathan Richman … ‘Mercurial musician and performance artist Hal Camplin was the surprise hit of BBC Upstaged – or rather his furry alter ego was … Brilliantly unhinged music.’ (Pat Reid, The Great Admirers.) www.myspace.com/badgertrap …

The unique Hal Camplin ventured forward next to contribute two idiosyncratic songs that only he could possibly have performed. “Death” rattled along with guitar, egg shaker and thought-provoking lyrics (“no one wants to see a man fall a hundred feet to his death / but we all want to be there when it happens”) before “The Prison Problem” dealt with another issue in a similar style (and with added Stylophone) (“morbid obesity…not as morbid as modern love”). He also plugged his album launch.
